Police have charged a local man with gunning down the 21-year-old mother of his child while she was picking the young girl up from daycare, a recent report by FOX 5 Atlanta said.

The mother, 21-year-old Mic'keya Montgomery, was shot when her daughter's father, Taco Nash, appeared with a gun at her daughter’s daycare. While daycare workers attempted to help, it was ultimately to no avail

"She was saying, ‘No,’ you know and asking for help, yelling out for help and he got into a physical altercation with them (daycare workers) and threatened to kill everybody and so they ended up just having to let... her you know go with him," Chancierra Coleman, the victim's sister, told FOX 5 Atlanta.

DeKalb County police said the shooting happened Wednesday in a wooded area behind Education Elevation Children’s Academy on Snapfinger Park Drive in Decatur, the report said. The family was told by police that the mother ran to a wooded area behind the daycare to get away and was shot and killed as she clutched her baby.

Family members reported that Nash shot Montgomery in Atlanta two years ago, the report said. He also faced several domestic-related allegations. Family members stated he physically beat Montgomery in March 2020 and that she had called police on Nash on two other occasions. He was granted bond in each incident.
