The City of Alpharetta has appointed Charlie Jewell as the new Director of Economic Development. Jewell brings over 16 years of experience in fostering economic growth at various levels, including local, regional, and university sectors.
Jewell previously served as the Director of Economic Development and Community Engagement at Radford University. During his tenure, he initiated projects to enhance the university's economic connections with local businesses. Among these initiatives were plans for a coworking space and a regional testing center at The HUB at Radford University for Economic Development. Before his role at Radford University, Jewell held leadership positions such as Managing Director at the Site Selectors Guild and Executive Director at Onward New River Valley.
Jewell's educational background includes a Master of Public Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Economic Development from Virginia Tech, along with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Radford University. His expertise spans talent attraction strategies, business retention, and expansion efforts across sectors like technology, manufacturing, and real estate development.
