Due to a rise in coronavirus cases, a Clayton county middle school decided to switch to the virtual learning process on Sept. 9.
According to the officials of Sequoyah Middle School in Riverdale, staff and students will return on Sept. 27, Fox 5 reported.
"Our virtual bell schedule is to be followed during our virtual learning pivot. It is posted on each teacher's google classroom, our school's website and shared via email with all scholars per their CCPS student email account," Principal Melanie Conner posted on the school website. "Please ensure scholars are following that schedule each school day."
School officials have asked the parents to contact the school about meal pickup times because services are ongoing for students, parents and guardians, Fox 5 reported.
The highly contagious delta variant of the coronavirus is one of the major reasons behind the spike in cases. A report published in August by the Clayton County Health District stated 21% of the cases in the county originated in Riverdale itself, Fox 5 reported.
Clayton County schools have moved to online learning on a case-by-case basis, Fox 5 reported. On Aug. 25, nine schools went virtual in one day, Fox 5 said.
