Some elementary students in Fulton County temporarily attended virtual classes following an increase in positive COVID-19 cases in the district, according to a report from WSB-TV.

Fulton County school officials announced that a large number of positive cases and direct contact among Summit Hill Elementary School's third-graders prompted the school to implement virtual learning for some students from Sept. 7 to Sept. 13, the WSB-TV report said. Students returned to in-class learning on Sept. 14.

’’Based on a high volume of positive cases and direct contacts and having met the criteria of a Level 2 at Summit Hill Elementary School, the third grade is going to be in remote learning starting on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, through Monday, Sept. 13th, returning Tuesday, Sept. 14th.’’ Fulton County Schools announced on Twitter.

The school district's policy mandates remote learning models if more than three students or employees at the same location test positive for COVID-19, according to a FOX 5  report.

During the week of Aug. 27 through Sept. 2, Fulton County Schools reported five positive cases among students and staff and 68 close contacts across the entire school.

According to the most recent district statistics, there are 675 confirmed cases and 25,465 close contacts across the district.
