City business offices in Alpharetta will be closed on Friday, September 27, due to the anticipated impact of Hurricane Helene. The latest update from the National Weather Service indicates that the storm's approach has slowed significantly, with the most powerful winds expected between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM on Friday.
During this period, Alpharetta is forecasted to experience sustained winds of 48 mph with gusts up to 74 mph. The City of Alpharetta urges residents to stay indoors and avoid traveling on area roads while these hazardous conditions persist.
In light of these safety concerns, city business offices will not open on Friday. However, employees will work remotely throughout the day and remain available to assist with municipal services. These services can be accessed through the City of Alpharetta website or by calling 678-297-6000.
Many city employees will be working overnight and following the storm to address immediate needs and facilitate cleanup and recovery efforts. Residents are asked to give space to team members, utility crews, and others working in the community so they can perform their duties safely.
