Georgia Tech late last month awarded volleyball head coach Michelle Collier with a two-year contract extension.
According to a school-issued press release, the nine-year coach will helm the program through at least the 2026 season.
GT director of athletics Todd Stansbury called Collier “one of the very best volleyball coaches in the country.”
“She has built Georgia Tech volleyball into a national player and she develops the student-athletes in her program into extraordinary women in all phases of their lives,” Collier said in the release. I am thrilled that she will remain our head coach for years to come.”
According to the school, Collier oversaw the Yellow Jackets’ emergence as a national power in the last half-decade.
She led GT to the NCAA Tournament for two consecutive years, including the Yellow Jackets’ second-ever Elite Eight berth.
The Elite Eight campaign also saw GT reel off an impressive 26-6 overall record which includes a quartet of victories over nationally ranked programs.
During the 2020-2021 campaign that was riddled by challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Collier led the squad that secured the first tournament berth and the first tournament victory in more than a decade.
Collier has seen four Yellow Jackets land on American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America teams during her last decade at The Flats, with Julia Bergmann and Mariana Brambilla earning selections to the first team last season.
Collier, whose coaching resume includes Jackson University, South Carolina and her alma mater, the University of South Florida, thanked the school administration for its trust and support in the program.
“I’m proud of the journey over the last eight years and thankful for every staff member and player who has been a part of it,” she said in the release.
