The Atlanta mayoral election will continue on Nov. 30 as none of the candidates running met the 50% requirement. As of 11 p.m. City Council President Felicia Moore was the leader with 33,432 votes, which is 40%.
There were five major candidates, including Moore, former Mayor Kasim Reed with 23.71%, Andre Dickens with 22.62%, attorney Sharon Gay with 6.89% and City Councilor Antonio Brown with 4.6%.
Others included Roosevelt Searles III, Kenny Hill, Kirsten Dunn, Walter Reeves, Richard Wright, Nolan English, Mark Hammad, Rebecca King and Glenn Wrightson.
According to WSBTV.com, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced in May that she would not be seeking re-election. Before the race, WSBTV reported that Reed and Moore were in a deadlock tie, but 41% reported they were undecided.
According to georgiavotes.com, as of 11 p.m., 35,735 residents voted early, with 28,000 votes in person. There were 5,215 mail-in ballots, and 3,549 returned them, which was a 68.1% return rate.
Fulton County
Other Fulton County elections on Nov. 2 were Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (E-SPLOST) and Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST).
As of 11 p.m., 62.49 % voted yes to T-SPLOST with a total of 36,914 votes, compared to 37.51% for 22,159 no votes. For E-PLOST, 71.91%, or 90,624 people, voted yes compared to 35,393 no votes, or 29.09%.
