Bendall Withdraws From Alpharetta City Council Post 3 Race

Genbusiness001

City of Alpharetta issued the following announcement on August 20.

Alpharetta resident and local small businessperson, Jamie Bendall, has withdrawn from the November 2, 2021 General Election race for City Council Post 3.

"I have had the pleasure of serving my community in a variety of capacities in the more than 20 years that I have called Alpharetta home," Bendall said. "From coaching softball at North Park to serving on the Planning Commission, I have always understood the value of being an engaged citizen and that was a significant factor in the decision to qualify for Post 3. Upon further consideration, the timing is not right for me to continue in this race due to a health situation involving a close family member. It is for this reason that I am withdrawing."

"I'm grateful for the support and encouragement I have received from a diverse cross-section of people who are interested in a safe and prosperous Alpharetta. I hope all Alpharetta residents continue the important conversation about how we responsibly manage growth, continue our investment in our parks and green spaces, while making the necessary improvements that are required in our infrastructure. Without a balanced approach, we run the risk of sacrificing the advantages that make Alpharetta so appealing to businesses and families alike."

"We are fortunate in Alpharetta to have so many committed men and women who work for the city. Public Safety, Community Development, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, are just a few of the departments staffed by people whose professionalism and commitment to excellence is part of what makes our city such a special place to live, work, and play. I intend to continue to support them going forward."

"Although I won't be on the ballot this November, I trust that the next Council will continue to work together to find solutions to the most pressing issues in Alpharetta. I look forward to the remaining candidates conducting an issues-oriented campaign focused on the best interests of our entire community."
