City of Milton issued the following announcement on August 11.
The City of Milton is looking forward to three more intersection improvements. But before any of these happen, we want to hear from people who drive along our roads and know them so well.
Specifically, the City's Public Works Department is seeking community feedback on concept designs for the following intersections:
- Bethany Road at Providence Road, where a new roundabout is being proposed
- Freemanville Road at Redd Road, where turn lanes and raised islands are being proposed
- Hopewell Road at Redd Road, where a new traffic signal and turn lanes are being proposed
The concept funding for the first two projects will come via TSPLOST, or the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, the voter-approved initiative allocating a 0.75% sales tax to pay for upgrades to roads, bridges, sidewalks and more. These were 'Tier 2' projects, with sales tax collections through March 2022 determining how much funding is available to move them forward.
Future phases may be funded through TSPLOST II -- another 5-year referendum for transportation projects -- if voters on November 2, 2021, approve it.
To get people's opinions on the three projects outlined above, the City has created a simple, 7-question survey It features sketches of all three concept designs and opportunities for people to share their views.
