This morning, the City received several reports from motorists and pedestrians about icy patches on roads and sidewalks. These icy areas were attributed to landscape irrigation systems that had not been deactivated, posing a safety risk that could lead to injuries or property damage.

"If an accident or injury occurs due to ice caused by a sprinkler system, the owner of that system will have liability for any injuries or damages that may result," stated the City. Additionally, it was noted that "the owner of an irrigation system may also be charged for any costs incurred by the City to treat roads on which ice forms due to overspray."
