The City of Alpharetta is urging residents to adhere to local ordinances regarding the disposal of leaves and yard clippings. The regulations strictly prohibit blowing or dumping these materials into roadways, storm drains, or drainage ditches. Violations can lead to clogged drainage systems, resulting in street and property flooding. Additionally, this improper disposal poses safety risks for both motorists and pedestrians and increases public service costs.

Residents who employ landscape maintenance services should note that they are responsible for ensuring their landscapers do not blow leaves or trimmings into streets or storm drains.

Alpharetta provides yard waste disposal as part of every resident's garbage and recycling collection account. The city encourages residents to collect and bag leaves and yard trimmings for pickup on designated trash and recycling days. Alternatively, composting yard waste for mulch use in natural areas is suggested.

For more information on proper yard waste management, residents can contact the Alpharetta Department of Public Works at 678-297-6200.
