Alpharetta's Natural Resources Commission, along with the City’s Community Agriculture Program and the City of Alpharetta, is set to host an informational workshop focused on rain barrels. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on November 14th at the Alpharetta Public Works Department, located at 1790 Hembree Road.
The workshop aims to educate participants about rainwater harvesting through rain barrels. Attendees will gain insights into how these barrels can help reduce water waste and support plant growth. The session will cover the environmental benefits of using rain barrels, various types available, and guidance on selecting one suitable for a garden.
A presentation will address considerations for site selection when planning to install a rain barrel. Information about where to obtain a rain barrel and available options like diverters and pumps will also be provided. Additionally, attendees will have a chance to win a "RainRecycle Do It Yourself Rain Barrel Kit with diverter" in a raffle.
The workshop requires a nominal fee: $5.00 for residents of Alpharetta and $7.50 for non-residents. Due to limited class size, registration is necessary.
