Alpharetta is currently under a Tropical Storm Watch as Hurricane Helene approaches. The National Weather Service issued the alert, predicting significant weather impacts from Thursday night through Friday.
Residents are advised to prepare for rainfall between 4 to 10 inches, with localized amounts potentially exceeding 12 inches. Sustained winds could reach 60 mph, with gusts surpassing 70 mph. These conditions may result in widespread downing of trees and significant power outages, possibly lasting for extended periods.
Preparations should be completed today and include securing outdoor items weighing less than 25 pounds, fully charging mobile devices, checking batteries in flashlights and lanterns, ensuring an adequate supply of non-perishable food, clearing debris from storm drains, and setting up a way to receive severe weather warnings.
