Alpharetta Mayor Pro Tem Dan Merkel has been selected by Governor Brian Kemp to join the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council, as announced on Apr 18, 2024. The council, dedicated to ensuring the safety and professionalism of firefighters in Georgia, welcomed Mayor Pro Tem Merkel as one of its 11 members, with six individuals appointed directly by the Governor.

The Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council (GFSTC) plays a crucial role in upholding the standards and qualifications of firefighters across the state.
