The mom of a man who was killed after his car was hit by a suspect fleeing the police in Fulton County is speaking out about the incident.
FOX 5 Atlanta reports that the victim, Jonathan Denham’s mother, Sara Acree, said her son was on his way home from a friend’s house at the time of the accident.
"The guy that they were chasing didn’t have his lights on, and he hit my son, and my son died on impact," Acree told FOX 5 Atlanta.
Georgia State Patrol did not identify the suspect, adding that the man fled from Cobb County Police during a traffic stop at about midnight Friday on Interstate 285 near the Cascade Road exit, FOX 5 reports.
Cobb County Police are still investigating the matter, including reconstructing the scene.
Acree said her son had a big sense of humor, adding the death of her eldest son has left a hole in her heart.
It’s not clear why the Cobb County Police Department was involved in the pursuit, which began and ended in Fulton County, miles out of its jurisdiction, FOX 5 reports. Officials said the suspect was wanted for fleeing from a previous traffic stop.
