A former correctional officer of the Fulton County Sheriff's Office was arrested and is currently under investigation for allegedly providing contraband tools to an inmate.
Fox 5 Atlanta reports that Antoine Brown was arrested on July 21 and faces four felony charges. Investigators found a contraband cell phone in inmate Antonio Jacobs's jail cell, which contained text messages to Brown discussing a contraband toolset. During questioning, Brown confessed to receiving $400 to bring contraband tools to an inmate. A search of Brown's vehicle uncovered an incomplete screw set and an empty package for a star bit set.
"These regular shakedowns of our detention facility continue to uncover dangerous contraband," Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat said in the Fox 5 report. "I am disappointed in this detention officer for choosing this path, but I am proud of our investigators for their dedication to ensuring the safety of inmates and staff within the Fulton County Jail."
Brown faces four felony charges for his actions including violation of oath by a public officer and providing prohibited items to an inmate.
Jacobs has been in jail since March 6 and will face three new felony charges.
