Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) recently issued the following announcement.
AAHOA and the hospitality industry at large are deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of Ray Bennett, President, U.S. and Canada, Franchising and Managed by Marriott (MxM) Select Brands.
During his tenure with Marriott, Bennett held progressively more senior management roles in hotel operations and lodging development. In 2015, he was named Chief Global Officer, Global Operations. In 2020, he was appointed to oversee the company's domestic franchising efforts as well as the MxM Select Brand hotels in the U.S. Bennett had a deep understanding of the hospitality industry, quickly identified operational issues, and handled business affairs diplomatically.
Bennett also passionately used his platform to serve as a role model for younger generations. He served on the board of CollegeTracks, a nonprofit organization that focuses on low-income, first-generation-to-college students in Montgomery County, Maryland and on the Academy of Hospitality & Tourism Industry Advisory Board for Washington, DC Public Schools. AAHOA extends its condolences to the Bennett family, the entire Marriott team, and everyone whose life he touched worldwide.
