University of Georgia football recruit EJ Lightsey is recovering after suffering several gunshot wounds in his hometown of Fitzgerald, about three miles south of Atlanta.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta News, Lightsey is reported to have been hit in the back and shoulder, and his injuries are not life-threatening.
"Prayers to EJ Lightsey and his family," DawgsNation tweeted after the Georgia football recruit suffered gunshot wounds.
Lightsley is currently recovering at Albany hospital and is in serious condition.
At 6-2, 210 pounds, Lightsey was one of three linebackers signed to the 2022 class by the defending NCAA champions.
Lightsey led Fitzgerald High School to a state championship this past season.
