Atlanta Braves star Freddie Freeman went on social media to thank Braves fans for all the memories of his 15 seasons in Atlanta, as the team announced its signing of first baseman Matt Olson on March 14.
In a recent Instagram post, Freeman said he gave everything day in and day out, and described how fans watched him grow from a "baby-faced kid" to a married man and father of three.
"I don't even know where to begin," Freeman said in his post. "For the past 15 years, I got to be a part of your organization. It was truly an honor. We went through the very highs together and some lows, but those lows (are) what made last year so special."
A second-round pick in the 2007 MLB Draft, Freeman has been a five-time All-Star in his 12 seasons with the Braves, a recent report on MLB.com said.
Freeman departs Atlanta ranking highly on the team's all-time top-10 lists for home runs (271; sixth), hits (1,704; seventh) and Baseball-Reference Wins Above Replacement [WAR] (43.1; sixth), the report said.
Among those believed to be involved in bidding for the 32-year-old first baseman's services are the Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, the report said.
"Although our time has come to an end, I look forward to seeing and playing in front of you all again, " Freeman said in his post. "When that time comes, I hope you remember all the wonderful memories we made together. I love you Braves Country! Champions Forever!"
