City of Milton recently issues the following announcement.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets Thursday night with a focus on fields – including how they’re rented, the use of temporary fencing on one, and other potential changes to another.
The March 17 meeting will start at 6 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers at 2006 Heritage Walk in Milton. Residents can attend in person or watch live online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Em5OgDaucbM.
Technically, PRAB – as this committee is known – will meet twice. The first time, it will be in a special-called meeting that will be held for the sole purpose of setting a meeting calendar for the rest of the year.
The second time is more the norm, kicking off with the traditional round-up of reports – to keep PRAB members up-to-speed – on the Milton Parks and Recreation Department’s various programs. These will include Hopewell Baseball, girls Eagle Stix lacrosse, NAFL football, the Milton Mustangs Swim Team, as well as adult and arts programing.
This will be followed by a substantive discussion will be about the City’s policy for renting athletic fields. Currently, Milton rents out six fields at Bell Memorial Park and three at the Cox Road athletic complex. To get more information on the current policy, go to www.cityofmiltonga.us/registration, then click on “Rent an Athletic Field.”
PRAB members will also talk about the use of a temporary fence on Bell Memorial Park’s Field 1 – one of the rectangular, multi-purpose, artificial turf fields in Milton’s signature park. Another “New Business” item pertains to possible changes to the field at Northwestern Middle School, which is owned by Fulton County Schools but utilized by Milton Parks and Rec programs.
City staff will then update the board on the upcoming opening of the clubhouse-turned-community and recreation center at the Former Milton Country Club, where a new trail is currently taking shape in the City-owned property’s “passive” area.
