A Georgia Tech track and field athlete recently raced to a new 3000M ACC title.
According to Georgia Tech Athletics, Nicole Fegans set a new school record in the 3000M to win the ACC title with a time of 9:01.31.
Fegans broke a new school record, set a facility record and earned All-ACC first team honors with her winning time.
Coach Alan Drosky praised Fegans for setting the winning mark, which broke her own school record.
“We had some great individual efforts from the women that have led our team all season long,” Women’s Head Coach Alan Drosky said. “Nicole winning, while smashing her own school and setting the facility record, was outstanding.”
During the race, Fegans led for the first half before settling in behind the leader. In the final 400m, she was able to deliver a powerful kick leading to a victory by 2.87 seconds.
Other Georgia Tech athletes earning All-ACC honors for the day include Zach Jaeger, who finished sixth in the mile, and Taylor Grimes who finished fifth in the 60 hurdles.
