Georgia Trend 100 Most Influential Georgians

444

Morehouse College recently issued the following announcement.

Georgia Trend recently named Morehouse College’s President David A. Thomas, Ph.D. and alumni Milton Little '76, Nathaniel Smith '96, and U.S. Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock '91 to its annual Most Influential Georgians list. This annual list from Georgia Trend magazine consists of “leaders who have inspired and spearheaded efforts to meet and beat challenges in virtually every corner of the Peach State.”

  • Milton Little '76 is the first Black president and CEO of United Way of Greater Atlanta where he guides the expansion of programs that benefit children and some of the metro region’s most vulnerable citizens. As the second largest United Way in the nation, the organization is committed to improving the lives of 250,000 children by 2027 through programs such as Child Well-Being Mission Fund.
  • Nathaniel Smith '96 is the founder and Chief Equity Officer of the Partnership for Southern Equity where he brings people and other nonprofits from across the Southeast together to advance policies that promote equity in areas including healthcare, justice and the environment. In 2021, the organization received a big push in its environmental work with a $6 million grant from Jeff Bezos’ Earth Fund to support climate solutions in disadvantaged communities.
  • Rev. Raphael Warnock '91 is the pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the first Black United States Senator representing Georgia. The freshman Democratic senator holds key committee assignments including Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, and Aging. He has been instrumental in crafting and negotiating support for national voting rights legislation as GOP-controlled legislatures in Georgia and elsewhere passed new voting restrictions. He’s also worked on affordable housing and rural issues including debt relief for Black farmers.
View the full list here and congratulations to President Thomas and our esteemed alumni for representing Morehouse’s dedication to service and leadership.
