Georgia Tech women's diver Camryn Hidalgo made a splash during 2021, collecting All-American honors in the 3-meter event during the NCAA Division I National Championships.
Hidalgo's third-place finish in the event, held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, was the program's best-ever finish in the meet as she tallied 356.4 points to make the top 3 and stand on the podium, Georgia Tech reported in a release.
"I have never been so proud," Georgia Tech head diving coach John Ames said in the release. "It's not really about the history, it's about the unbelievable journey!"
Hidalgo's performance set the bar during the meet, Georgia Tech reported. During the event, teammates sophomores McKenzie Campbell and Brooke Switzer excelled, with Campbell placing 34th in the 400-meter individual medley at 4:15.08 and Switzer 34th in the 200-meter freestyle at 1:47.20.
During the meet, Hidalgo, a senior, also competed in the women's platform event, joined by teammate Anna Bradescu, a true freshman, Georgia Tech reported. Campbell and Switzer also were in the pool for other events, with Campbell participating in the 200-meter butterfly, and Switzer in the 100-meter freestyle.
Hidalgo had quite a senior year, competing on all three boards at the NCAA qualifier, setting the highest all-time score in the platform event at 309.2 and placing third in the consolation final at the NCAA Championships on the platform with a score of 280.00, Georgia Tech reported. She took third place at the ACC Championships on the 3-meter board with a score of 347.9, while also competing at the NCAA Zone B Championships on the 1-meter board with 571.45, 3-meter board with 666.0 and platform with 541.5.
