Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been named as a defendant in a defamation lawsuit filed by two election workers in Georgia.

Ruby Freeman and Wandrea "Shaye" Moss of Fulton County filed a defamation suit against Giuliani on Dec. 23 over debunked claims they supplied suitcases of fraudulent ballots and performed other acts of election fraud in an attempt to influence the result of the 2020 presidential election, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

The lawsuit alleges that Giuliani, a former lawyer for former President Donald Trump, "continued to publish and amplify the lie" during appearances on One America News Network (OAN), Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

OAN is also listed as a defendant in the lawsuit for continuing to accuse Freeman and Moss of fraud despite Georgia election officials refuting the claims, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

Freeman was serving as a temporary election worker for the 2020 presidential election while Moss, who has worked for Fulton County's elections office since 2012, supervised the absentee ballot process, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

The lawsuit contends that Freeman and Moss experienced "an immediate onslaught of violent and racist threats and harassment" and are now "afraid to live normal lives" as a consequence of the false allegations, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

The lawsuit demands punitive damages and a court order mandating that the defendants remove false claims regarding Freeman and Moss from their sites and other media outlets, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

This is the second defamation lawsuit filed by Freeman and Moss in December. The election workers filed a lawsuit on Dec. 2 against The Gateway Pundit.

Trump focused on Georgia after his close defeat in the historically Republican state, spreading unsubstantiated claims that widespread fraud resulted in President Joe Biden's victory, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

Trump pressured Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to "find" votes, mentioning Freeman specifically and referring to her as a "vote scammer, a professional vote scammer, and hustler," Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
