The campaign committee of Republican Party candidate Mary Mallory Staples, Mallory Staples for Congress, refunded $1,000 to Brian Powell on Sept. 21, according to the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

FEC data shows the refunded expenditure was for: "Contribution refund to an individual, partnership or limited liability company."

Mallory Staples for Congress has refunded $6,800 total since April 1.
