City of Milton issued the following announcement on October 26.
The Georgia Department of Transportation is undertaking the months-long process of resurfacing State Route 140, widely known in Milton as Arnold Mill Road.
State contractors began patching earlier this month. Similar to the recent work on State Route 372 – called Crabapple Road and Birmingham Highway in Milton – a methodical, thorough resurfacing will follow. According to GDOT, the project should finish sometime in the spring.
Since this is a state road, the City of Milton does not have authority or control of this specific project. However, we realize that people who work, live and play in Milton will be affected – thus the efforts to inform the public as best as possible. The project also affects neighbor Alpharetta and Roswell, given the path of State Route 140.
Right now, plans call for most of the work to occur when the fewest drivers are on the road. To this end, GDOT expects there may be intermittent single-lane closures of State Route 140 to occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday-into-Tuesday, Tuesday-into-Wednesday, Wednesday-into-Thursday, and Thursday-into-Friday. Because of this, people traveling at such hours should give themselves extra time or seek alternate routes.
