Wills Park Pool Announces Adjusted Schedule For Remainder Of Summer Season

Newwills

City of Alpharetta issued the following announcement on August 06.

Staffing Shortage Leads City To Focus On Safety

Like many employers, The City of Alpharetta is facing staffing challenges that are impacting current operations. Due to the shortage of available, qualified lifeguards to safely operate Wills Park Pool, the facility will need to adjust its schedule and capacity for the remainder of the season.

Wills Park Pool will continue to operate as scheduled through Sunday, August 8. After that, the Leisure Pool only will remain open for the following schedule:

  • Aug. 14/15 from 12-5pm
  • Aug. 21/22 from 12-5pm
  • Aug. 28/29 from 12-5pm
The competition pool will remain closed and the maximum capacity will be 140 people. The hours and capacity limit are contingent upon lifeguard availability and are subject to change if needed. “This is not the way we had hoped to finish out a great summer season at Wills Park Pool”, said Morgan Rodgers, Director of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Services for the City of Alpharetta. “Our team has brainstormed numerous ways to keep the pool fully open this summer but due to extreme staffing shortages in not only Alpharetta, but many nearby towns as well, this is the safest way possible at this time.”

The pool will be officially closed for the season after August 29 and will not be open for Labor Day Weekend as originally planned.

Senior Swim hours* are also being modified for the remainder of the season and will be as follows:

  • 8:30 – 11:30am: August 7, 9, 11, 14
  • 8:30 – 10:30am: August 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, 30 and Sept. 1, 4
*All hours are contingent upon lifeguard availability

Visitors are encouraged to utilize the Rainout Line App to confirm current pool status before coming to the pool. For directions on how to use this application visit: http://bit.ly/RecActivityGuidesLink and see Page 2 of our School Year Guide.
