Republican incumbent John Albers has won his election bid for Senate District 56, defeating Democratic opponent Sarah Beeson.
Albers expressed gratitude in the following statement posted on his Facebook page on Nov. 4 that states in part:
“Thank you for the great honor and privilege to serve you in elected office. I am humbled and overwhelmed to achieve another re-election Victory. Return to the Senate on January 11th 2021 and will be sworn in for the next legislative Dino at the Georgia capital. A very special thank you to my wife Carrie, Sons will and Ryan, daughter-in-law Gabby, extended family friends and volunteers for the unending support of me. You make the difference in every election and I am blessed.”

Beeson accepted defeat and wrote the following message on her Facebook page.
“After a long, hard-fought campaign, the dust has settled to reveal we have come up only slightly short of victory at 49% of the vote. Although we did not win, there is still much to be celebrated — we brought this race to the closest margin in history. We pushed our current representation to listen to constituents. We saw democracy at work.”
