Beach became active in Alpharetta government. He served on the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council. He also led the North Fulton Chamber of Commerce.

In 2012, he was elected to the Georgia State Senate. He took office in 2013, representing District 21. This includes parts of Fulton and Cherokee counties. He served on multiple Senate committees. He chaired the Transportation Committee until 2021.
