The City of Johns Creek has recently received several awards recognizing its ongoing development efforts, particularly in the Town Center area. The city, already known for its safety and quality of life, has been highlighted by various organizations for both community security and redevelopment initiatives.

In 2025, US News & World Report ranked Johns Creek as the Best Place to Live in the U.S. and the safest place to live in the country, placing it first in the Best Places to Live crime subcategory. SafeWise named Johns Creek the fifth safest city in Georgia for 2025, second safest city in America in 2024, and the safest city to raise a family in 2022.

“These types of rankings evoke a sense of civic pride within the community and oftentimes translate to increased attention. But the high rankings didn’t magically appear overnight. They emerged after years of the City and its elected leaders setting a clear vision and championing strategic priorities centered on improving the quality of life for all who call Johns Creek home,” according to a statement from city officials.

The city’s efforts have focused on developing a central gathering place through projects like the Town Center and Boardwalk at Town Center park behind City Hall. The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) presented Johns Creek with its Excellence in Economic Development award at its annual conference, recognizing work to redevelop Town Center into a vibrant destination.

The IEDC Award committee cited several factors for this recognition:
– The upcoming Boardwalk at Town Center park set to open summer 2026.
– The Medley mixed-use development along McGinnis Ferry Road and Johns Creek Parkway.
– Major road and trail improvements, including a new pedestrian tunnel under Medlock Bridge Road.

A second recognition came from the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), which honored Johns Creek with an award for its Livable Center Initiative at ARC’s State of the Region breakfast. The award acknowledges efforts to transform a traditional office park into “a vibrant, walkable downtown hub – a destination that blends housing, retail, greenspace, and community life at the heart of Johns Creek.”

A third award was presented during the Metro Area Redevelopment Summit (MARS), where Johns Creek received recognition for Large Redevelopment Project of the Year for its Boardwalk at Town Center project. The event brought together more than 270 business and community leaders from across metro Atlanta.

“The annual event recognizes key development and redevelopment efforts driving economic growth and job creation in the 11-county MSA (metropolitan statistical area),” organizers stated.

City leaders say these recognitions are evidence of ongoing work toward fostering economic growth while maintaining an inclusive environment defined by neighborhoods connected through greenways that support wellness and sustainable living.

By advancing plans for Town Center, officials believe Johns Creek is positioned as a leader in innovation among Georgia communities.
