In the 2024-25 school year, Hopewell Middle School had 203 Hispanic students enrolled, which was a 5.7% increase compared to the prior year, the Georgia Department of Education reported.
The figures also showed the school’s total enrollment reached 1,271 students for the 2024-25 period. Hispanic students accounted for 16% of the overall population, making them the third-largest demographic group at the campus.
Hopewell Middle School operates under the Fulton County School District, headquartered in Atlanta.
Of the district’s 103 schools, Riverwood International Charter School enrolled the most Hispanic students in 2024-25, with 639 students registered.
Statewide, over 1.7 million students attended Georgia public schools, according to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. Among them, elementary schools enrolled 787,206 students (45.9%), middle schools served 388,733 students (22.7%), and high schools had 539,092 students (31.4%).
Chronic absenteeism has continued to challenge Georgia schools in the post-pandemic years, with 20.7% of students missing 10% or more school days in 2024, based on Georgia Department of Education data. The department responded with a statewide initiative that includes a real-time attendance dashboard, a statewide awareness campaign, and additional assistance for districts with high need.
Legislation approved by Georgia lawmakers in 2025 updated rules about school attendance and removed expulsion as a consequence solely for absenteeism. The law created new reporting obligations and supports programs providing alternative diploma completion pathways.
By 2026, Georgia schools had an average student-to-teacher ratio of about 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1.
