State Representative Park Cannon (D-Atlanta) and 23 other members of the Fulton County House and Senate Legislative Delegations have voiced their opposition to two new nominees for the Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections. The group sent a letter to the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, urging them not to approve the nominations.

“These are not neutral administrators — they are active participants in a partisan scheme to undermine public confidence in elections,” the lawmakers expressed in a written letter. “We plead that you do not give in to the conspiracy theorists, to the liars and to those who are seeking to bully you into submission.”

The legislators plan to attend the Board of Commissioners meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 3 at 10:00 a.m., and are inviting members of the public to join them at the Fulton County Government Center in Atlanta by 9:30 a.m. The goal is for supporters to express their stance on this issue.

Lawmakers participating include State Representatives Michelle Au, Esther Panitch, Shea Roberts, Betsy Holland, Inga Willis, Bryce Berry, Stacey Evans, Park Cannon, Phil Olaleye, Sheila Jones, Mekyah McQueen, Tanya Miller, Kim Schofield, Robert Dawson, Lydia Glaize, Derrick Jackson, Debra Bazemore as well as State Senators Josh McLaurin, Donzella James, Jason Esteves, Nan Orrock, RaShaun Kemp and Sonya Halpern.

Jon G. Burns has served as a Republican member of Georgia’s State House since 2005 after replacing Ray Holland as representative for District 159.
