Emory Healthcare marked the start of 2026 by welcoming the first babies born on New Year’s Day at four of its hospitals across Georgia.
At Emory Decatur Hospital, the first baby of the year, Naomi, was born at exactly midnight. She weighed 7 pounds, 0.9 ounces and measured 19 inches long. Naomi is the first child for her mother, Morgan. The family noted their surprise that Naomi arrived just as the New Year began.
Later in central Georgia, Blakely was born at 2:06 a.m. at Emory Hospital Warner Robins. Weighing 6 pounds, 6 ounces and measuring 18 inches, Blakely arrived ahead of her expected due date. Her parents, Ashley and Brandon, welcomed her into a large family with six siblings.
At Emory Johns Creek Hospital, Taylor was born at 3:21 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces and measuring 19.5 inches long. His mother Shamease works as a labor and delivery nurse at Emory. Both she and Taylor’s father said they were pleased to begin the new year with their first child’s arrival.
The last of the four early arrivals was Zaylon, born at Emory University Hospital Midtown at 7:36 a.m. He weighed 7 pounds, 5.5 ounces and measured 20.5 inches long. Zaylon’s mother Synethia shared that he now shares his birthday with his cousin.
